Patients Awaiting
Corneal
Transplantation

Are you about to have a corneal transplant?

Visit our on-line Information Request page to speak with someone about the procedure.

Today's improved surgical techniques and effective medications provide an excellent success rate with corneal transplants.

Visual recovery will be gradual with noticeable improvements over time.  The healing process is an important phase of corneal transplantation and frequent follow-up visits to your ophthalmologist are necessary.  Your doctor will prescribe medicated drops and may also prescribe glasses or contact lenses to further correct your vision.

A corneal transplant is a wonderful gift of restored sight.  It is important that you have confidence in your surgeon and feel comfortable asking questions at any time.  It is important to take good care of your precious gift!

To request more information or to talk with someone who has undergone a corneal transplant, contact the Eye Foundation at restoresight@odef.org , or call our main office at (804)560-7540.  In Virginia, dial 800-832-0728.
